ExpertFocus LLC was founded in 2024 by Dan Gardner, MD, a board-certified psychiatrist and psychoanalyst with over 50 years of clinical experience consulting with patients, families, treatment teams, and healthcare organizations. A Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, Dr. Gardner was recognized by his physician peers as one of San Diego's Top Doctors for eight consecutive years.
Dr. Gardner earned his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School and completed his psychiatric residency at UC San Diego, where he later served as Voluntary Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry. His extensive career includes leadership roles as Section Head of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at Scripps Clinic San Diego and Medical Director of a brain injury rehabilitation program. He has also served on the Council of the San Diego Psychiatric Society and the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the San Diego Psychoanalytic Center.
Throughout his career, Dr. Gardner has been dedicated to treating patients with respect and compassion, building trust through genuine human connection. He has remained committed to exploring how innovative technology can enhance — rather than replace — the therapeutic relationship, bringing people together in meaningful ways.
